My Top Thrifter of 2014: Personal Bravery

Good Afternoon Fashion Loves!

Today I am featuring " My Top Thrifter of 2014". Drum roll please?!
Its Princess (Fox) Wilcoxson! In the blogging world we know her as Personal Bravery.
Right at the start of my blogging journey I stumbled across her page and I fell in love immediately.
True to her name her looks are very brave and adventurous. I never grow bored with her look. Her style is so original. That brings me to my next point... SHE THRIFTS! And goodness is she good at it. She can make an outfit she paid very less for look like she spent hundreds. Did I mention her hair cut? Its oh so fab! So all these things should go to show why she had to be "My Top Thrifter of 2014". I caught up with the lady of the hour and asked her a couple of questions. Lets take a look at that interview:

Telly: What made you decide to start blogging?

PrincessI have had a love for fashion for as long as I can remember. In 2010, I got the opportunity to live in Australia and this is when I discovered the world of fashion blogging. "Saks in the City" was the first fashion blog that I ever read. I never knew this world existed! From then on I knew I had to create my own blog to express my personal style.

TellyDescribe your style in 1 word. (She couldn't lol)

PrincessAlways evolving! That's really two words but hey...

TellyWhat about thrifting do you enjoy the most?

PrincessIt's something about the thrill of finding those hidden treasures that most times you weren't even expecting to find! I love how someone else's trash becomes another man's treasure! It's so much fun and it allows me to be creative and put my twist on different items.

TellyFor some contemplating blogging, what is your best advice for them?

Princess Always be yourself! Don't change yourself for anybody. Being a blogger, it can be really easy to get frustrated about your growth or how you may fit in, but trust the process. It's something amazing about being organic. Always know that you have something to give!

TellyLast but not least.Your style inspiration, who inspires princess?

PrincessWho inspires my style? There are so many I could name! You, I love how you wear what you want. Your style is eclectic. It's such a beauty in that. I really like Karla Deras from "Karla's Closet" Her blog was one of the first blogs I fell in love with. Her shoe collection is amazing! I also really like Solange's style. She pretty much slays every day. I mean ma'am you slay at breakfast. Ugh! I also really like Joi from "In My Joi" She's so organic with her style! She truly wears what she wants. You never know what to expect with her. One day it could be a pencil skirt and cropped top, the next day it could be jeans and sneakers or a ball gown. I absolutely love it!!

I was honored to be apart of this beauty's inspiration. There's no doubt in my mind this lovely lady will be doing some big things come 2015. Are you ready for it?

Special Thanks to Princess "Personal Bravery" for taking the time out for this feature.

Comfy Sunday

Today I aimed for that comfortable look while still possessing style. When it comes to a sweater you can totally achieve that look. All you'll need is a sweater and a statement piece. In this post my statement is my maxi skirt. The skirt was originally a dress I no longer cared for the shape of. Although I was very much in love with the skirt of the dress. Snip snip. That is a big part of my thrifting . If I love some parts of a piece and not others. I'll just cut them off when I get home. Otherwise, I would  be missing out on a awesome skirt! This skirt is my go to skirt. I've paired this thing with many tops. T-Shirts, Blouse, leather jackets, vest etc. The list goes on! And in this case today when my other skirt fell through, my infamous maxi skirt was waiting for me. This sweater cost me $4.65. It's by Outlander. Black lamb's wool. Soooo comfortable. I wore my black cowboy booties and grabbed my shades. And I was on my way. Look look below:

Skirt/Dress: Davids Bridal (Older)
Booties: Walmart $14
Sweather: Community Thrift (Here) $4.65

Leather skirt strikes again

Hello Saturday!

First I must say it is taking me some time to adjust to the weather change. I've lived in Michigan all my life but for some reason I will never be one with the weather. I love the fall & spring. Not too hot, not too cold. But the winter here is fierce! But no match for my leather pencil skirt.I had no idea that when purchasing  this beauty a couple of weeks ago that I would be so madly in love with it.The good thing about a leather skirt is you can wear it several ways. Sweater, t-shirt, blouse, jacket, etc. the list can go on. In my case, I decided to wear it with this paisley blue jean shirt I scored some time ago thrifting. I couldn't have paid more than 2 bucks for it. For me fashion doesn't have to be this expensive ordeal. It just has to be you. :)

My shoes tho!!

Monday Blues

Good Day Fashion People!

What's ironic about this outfit is that the last time I wore it I wasn't feeling well. See post here. I guess you can call this my go to outfit when I'm not feeling my best. Unforeseen, Thursday evening my husband came home looking pitiful. He had a fever of 103!! So after nursing him back to health for over the course of days I was completely exhausted come Sunday but happy he was back to his full health. Its a very chic look. Sunday was a gloomy day in the D with no sun to be found. But the weather was nice and warm! So on my way to my meeting this is what I wore:

XOXO Telly!

Vamp It up

Good Afternoon!

I took a little break from blogging and decided to refocus my energy towards this hobby which I love so much. Over the weekend I attend my assembly. I wanted to look hawt! haha I was actually looking for a coat when I stumbled across this high waisted leather pencil skirt purchased from Regeneration  a vintage thrift store.

It wasn't difficult from that point to realize what  I wanted to pair it with. A simple black sweater and a chunky necklace. Well, that didn't exactly happen as planned. Upon looking for the sweater I stumbled across this beautiful blouse in Plato's Closet. For only $8 this beauty was coming home with me! Guys the way this blouse fit in the dressing room I almost screamed. haha

(Forever 21 Earrings /Sold Out)

The blouse grabs my waist so complementary. It comes up high in the back and drapes in the front. It totally brought this already awesome skirt to life. You add that with some accessories  already in my closet you have yourself a vampy outfit.

Enjoy!
Love Telly❤️

The Walk Fashion Show

It was just this time last week that I attended "The Walk Fashion Show"  at The Garden Theater in Detroit, MI. I was brought in as Media so I got to sit very close to the stage. However, the room was so intimate I don't think that would've mattered. Upon arriving I was greeted by a friendly associate of the event who granted  me my all-access badge. The overall vibe I got from the show was very warm. Everyone supported the designers. Of course there were fan favorites. It personally seemed they were the biggest fan of designer 24 Hour Creations:

His style was very creative.  And the crowd really loved his work. He used lots of denim and floral pattern. Even my husband mentioned he would like to wear his collection:
Hubby looking at collection :)

In the words of the designer, he said the collection was urban wear with a bit of high fashion that is intended to be wearable and not found in stores, completely exclusive. Talk about a designer that hit his style description dead on!

Totally fab!

Lets talk what I wore! I decided to wear an over-sized blazer recently purchased from Value World. I then paired it with black leggings and a simple black tee. Now my  favorite part of the outfit is this beautiful necklace I got from Forever 21! I'm totally addicted to it! Necklace Here I believe I wore it 3 times since Saturday. (lol)

Overall the fashion show was lovely. Wasn't a fan of all the designers. But that was to be expected. The MC was very entertaining and runway music was accompanied by live drums. All those in connection with putting on this event should be proud as it turned out great. I'm really looking forward to the next event. Be sure to check them out next time if you haven't already. Wednesday's Meditations

“Please do not have a fit in the fitting room. Your fashion life begins there.”

 Florence Eiseman

Since the beginning of my blogging journey, I've had a wrestling with my self-image. Often those times were in the fitting room. I really do love the way I look. But at times I don't. Those times are only when I can't find things that fit me. Being 6'0" ft tall with more curves than a cinnamon roll (Lol) and a size 11 shoe its very difficult to dress myself. That's why I think I resort to thrifting. Not only do I appreciate the style. I also appreciate the fit.

It seems like back then they focused on the curves of a woman. Now I feel like designers are dressing size 0 models. A little under 2 years ago I wore a size 10. That was the easiest shopping of my life. I often didn't even have to try on a outfit before I bought it. I dare not try that now. Lol. I empathize with women my size and bigger. It's a difficult task. But what helps me is the fashion blogging world. Seeing women of all shapes and sizes own fashion. It's so encouraging for me. And if I'm being encouraged by a blogger, I'm sure I'm doing the same for someone. So that's what helps me. That interchange between women that is so often discarded. My goal is to appreciate all women. Even the mean ones lol. Cause we all inspire each other.

Comment a fashion blogger below who inspires you. :)

Telly on being "All Dolled Up" (Part 1)

Hey Fashion friends!

Today we talk my experience with being featured in the Detroit Metro Times. It was AWESOME! I really enjoyed this opportunity. I thought to myself "Feature me?" YEAH ! That's rights ME! Sometimes I have the worst case of getting into my own head. Being my biggest critic. New to the fashion blog world I wondered what do I wear or what do I say?! When I finally calm myself down. I could really feel the excitement. Alysa was wonderful! Very inviting and friendly. We chatted about both being newlyweds, etc. Before I knew it are session was up.

                 (Selfie for the road)
Now fast forward to Wednesday November 19th. This issue was out! First thing I did upon opening my eyes is go to http://m.metrotimes.com and search the blog "All Dolled Up". There I was all dolled up. :)
With butterflies in my stomach I hunted all morning to find a paper copy. Finally discovering them I took several copies. Haha. This has been an awesome experience for me. I know it will be the first of many. But it will always be the first. :)
